Irving.

Designed as a subterranean sanctuary for the curation and appreciation of fine viticulture, the Irving wine cellar is a masterclass in atmospheric minimalism and material precision. The brief was to transition from the primary living zones into a dedicated, climate-controlled environment that feels both intimate and monolithic, defined by a rhythmic interplay between shadow and light through a restricted palette of raw, industrial textures balanced against the warmth of natural timber.

A floor-to-ceiling glass-enclosed vault serves as the focal point, utilizing minimalist racking and vertical LED ribbons to present the collection as a floating installation. Centering the room, a monolithic concrete tasting station provides a tactile, brutalist counterpoint to the refined dark walnut wall paneling and bespoke batten ceiling. These elements are grounded by large-format honed basalt tiles, while strategic warm-spectrum illumination and custom joinery—which seamlessly conceals acoustic and mechanical systems—highlight the material textures without overpowering the cellar’s scale. Finished with curated slimline furnishings, the space represents a sophisticated extension of the residence’s architectural identity, creating a quiet, tactile retreat that elevates the ritual of the pour.
