Our latest project in Wheelers Hill proves that you don’t need a massive budget or a perfectly square block to deliver a comprehensive, light-filled family home. By thinking strategically about space and flow, we’ve managed to pack an incredibly high-yield program into a single-level footprint.
Here is how we solved the site’s unique challenges:
Single-Level Efficiency: To strictly manage the client’s budget and keep construction costs optimized, we designed a sprawling single-level layout that doesn’t compromise on living space.
Maximizing the Footprint: We pushed the design right up to the strict boundary setbacks. Navigating these constraints allowed us to capture and utilize every usable square meter of the irregular block.
A High-Yield Program: Despite the spatial challenges, the floorplan successfully accommodates 5 generous bedrooms and a dedicated multi-function room, ensuring the home can adapt to a growing family’s needs over time.
The Central Courtyard: The true hero of this design is the central courtyard. Acting as the lungs of the home, it draws abundant natural light deep into the interior floorplan. This creates a clean, minimalist, and contemporary atmosphere throughout the core living and circulation spaces, while maintaining complete privacy from the street.
Great architecture is about solving complex problems beautifully. This sketch plan is a perfect example of balancing a strict budget with a desire for a bright, sophisticated, and highly functional home.
